Development Log
Anything and everything about the Fated Seas game I am currently developing and maybe some older ideas/concepts that were floating around before and which may come back again in the future (Underworld & Horticultist).
Final Bastion and Executioner Art
The final art for the Bastion and Executioner classes have arrived and they look stellar!
New Logo for Fated Seas
I just updated the awesome new logo for Fated Seas, which I just received from Gabriella Santiago. I really love what she came up with, as I feel it captures the spirit of the game and the setting greatly. Almost done with the book - just waiting on a few more pieces of art. :)
Bastion & Executioner Class Art
I recently commissioned a few more images for the rulebook for class images of the Bastion and Executioner and love these various takes on both of them! I’ve decided to use a mix and match of each of the sets for the final images, but it’s always cool to see how things start and progress into the final shape.

Redesign of Equipment cards
I’ve spent some time this week updating equipment cards to be horizontal i.e. landscape to differentiate them from player character class and origin cards. This makes it more clear that they aren’t supposed to go into your deck and instead are intended to be placed somewhere in front of you. Here are a few sample images, which are still a bit WIP as I update and iterate on the iconography, but overall, I’m much happier with this direction as I get a ton more space for clarity, more words and crazy card mechanics.
Updated website and Social Links
Howdy. Not a huge update this week. While waiting on the proof of the Fated Seas Sourcebook, I’ve been working on other things related to the support and development of the game in regards to creating a community space for those interested in the game. In that regard, I’d like to point out the social links at the top right for Discord and Facebook. No biggie if you’re not interested in those kinds of things.
I’ve also started adding downloadable files for Fated Seas on the bottom of that page. Currently there are just print-outs for the character sheets (in letter & in landscape mode), but I will eventually put Print & Play versions of the cards for those that wish to go that route.
Happy 2024 and an update on Fated Seas
The last few months have been spent on finalizing the Fated Seas Sourcebook, adding and refining the fearsome foes of the bestiary, reviewing and editing, sourcing art, layout and color tuning. So many things.
The big news is that I’ve just submitted a Proof of the manual from Amazon and will be waiting on its arrival while I continue to iterate, fix typos and hopefully add about a dozen more monsters to bring it over 50. (I currently have 36).
Anyway, I’m elated to begin taking these final steps in publishing the game, which is an entirely new and exciting experience for me. If all goes to plan, I will hopefully have the game complete and ready for sale by April or May.
Fated Seas physical cards
One of the test print runs of some of the cards for Fated Seas came in this week from the Game Crafter and I’m pretty happy with how they turned out.
Tristania side view in glorious color
Here’s the final art for the side view “schematic” of Tristania, finished and colored.
A technical slice of Tristania, the Jewel of the Expanse
Here’s a work in progress photo of the side-view of Tristania. Looking amazing so far!
Tristania, the Jewel of the Expanse
As the most prominent deep city in the Austral Expanse, Tristania is the one most fully-documented and illustrated in the Fated Seas Sourcebook. To go along with the various details of the city, I drew up a document illustrating the structure and general shape of the deep cities. While this one is unique to Tristania, I imagine, most, if not all are engineered in the same way.
This will go through a few iterations with Endi, who will then create another awesome map showing all the details.
Cartography for Fated Seas
I’ve commissioned the services of a cartographer for a variety of maps for the world of Fated Seas and the first one was just finished. I’m super pleased with how this turned out!
Fabulous work done by Endi Oblak.
Rulebook Updated on Steam Workshop
I’ve updated the rulebook and card data for Fated Seas on the Steam Workshop. If you’re interested in reading through the changes, feel free to have a look!
2023 - the year of Fated Seas
I’ve finally updated the website with a project I’ve been working on…. for years… (sheesh).
Fated Seas
Back in July of 2021, I won the Cocktail Card Contest for my card designs (many thanks to the Humble Bundle for allowing me to achieve this). Here are some updated card images now that I’ve gotten art for each action. In my opinion, this adds a lot more to the individual actions instead of a static portrait of the class on each card.
Cocktail Card Design Contest
I am honored and excited to say that my RPG, Fated Seas, won first place in the Cocktail Card Design Contest! Much more work to do!
Pathfinder starting gear
Jake has created the starting gear artwork for the Pathfinder. I dig the Mayan pyramid background quite a bit and the rich colors on all of these.
Pathfinder
Mike has finished the male Pathfinder, which finishes the artwork for this Adventurer. Looking forward to getting the new card printed up using both pieces of art!
Peacekeeper
Been quite a while since I’ve been able to post an update, but the art is still coming in, just a bit slower due to the times. However, this update is really exciting, because one of the character concepts has been finished and I couldn’t be more happy with how it turned out. This is the Peacekeeper, a mummified, arcane agent of the Aegyptus dynasty granted power and protection of the queen. She prowls the wastes as a vanguard of defense, vanquishing evil before it can do harm.
Witherneb
While I’m not super keen on the name of this foe, this demonic insect creature stalk the jungle for intruders and use virulent poison to take down the largest prey. I love the depth of field on this image. This things looks like it’s right about to leap and spit acid all over your face.
Underworld Rulebook has been updated
While I still have more revisions to go on it, especially with graphic design of the various cards, the rulebook for Underworld has had a major update. If you’re interested in giving feedback on it, please click here for the link (or you can find it on the Underworld page under the Game Rules button.)
